Climate Changes (Way to Go, Bi-peds)

Nice going, Humans. You can't blame THIS one on flatulent cows... According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (comprised of governmental officials and scientists from 113 countries), rising global temperatures (otherwise known as Global Warming) are happening because of, wait for it, people. The report also predicts that future climate change will be a result of this human influence. In 100 years, if folks don't change their warming ways, we could radically change our weather for the worse. Earth would have a much different climate at the end of the 21st century than at the beginning (with thermal expansion of the oceans, melting glaciers, and a plague of tiny, vicious monkeys). Here is a link to the Panel's report. It is in pdf format, so don't get scared when Adobe comes a callin' after you click the link.

Here is a link to NPR's Steve Inskeep's brief report on the subject.

Remember when you were a kid (assuming you were born in the early eighties or before) and Halloween was cold? Remember snow days? The mid-atlantic area has been getting balmier every winter. It's creepy. How much of your behavior are you willing to change to help out Earth and keep yourself from being boiled alive in February? Maybe you should lower the amount of greenhouse gases you emit. Turn down your thermostat. Drive a fuel-efficient car. Plant a tree. Walk or take public transportation when you can. I plan to contribute by living in the dark and never, ever breaking wind again. Conservation is fun, kids! HOP TO IT!

P.S. The above cow picture pleased me to death and I wanted to email Tyler Larson to ask his permission before I used it, but could not find his email address. Here is his site, though, and I hope he's cool with his picture being on my blog.

P.P.S. Many thanks to Mark, who covered my show for me yesterday while I did important things. I'll be on the air next week, folks.

Hi! He'd have to do that himself, as I don't have access to it. Go to wvud.org and see if you can email him for it! And thanks for listening...
