My Scanner Gets Told

Bits and pieces of our old station equipment are being sold off. If I had money to burn and a lot of space, I'd snap up a few of these items. I can't believe how simple and innocent that console looks to me now. It's really not terrifically different from what we use now in that we're still just moving buttons and levers around to regulate levels and turn machines off and on. Yet, it is cleary from a different era. I miss the feel of the little toggle switches that let you switch from A to B on channels. I am needlessly nostalgic and wistful.

Speaking of nostalgia, wouldn't it be splendid if you could reminisce about all of the songs I've played over the last five weeks' worth of shows? And wouldn't it be nice to reminisce by seeing links to those playlists conveniently lined up in the same post? Heavens! Get out of my head. That's just what I've planned.

What's that, scanner? You say you're broken and I can't scan my playlists and put them on my blog ever again?

Oh, snap!

Taco Bell's Cheesy Gordi---OH NO!

Joe Jackson, WHAT ARE YOU DOOOOOING?!?!? I mean, I'm excited that the nation's masses are now turned on to your song "One More Time" from your 1979 album "Look Sharp," but did you really need to sell it to Taco Bell?
I SAID TACO BELL, JOE. Well, maybe it'll make the cheese-eating public realize that "Look Sharp" is one of the finest pop/rock albums ever made. Ever. I love Joe Jackson. Truly. Everything about "Look Sharp" is wonderful.

"Look Sharp" is the first album that made me really sit up and take notice of a bass player, by the way. (Well, the first since many of the Beatles' albums.) Graham Maby, the bass player who plays with Joe Jackson to this day, is a virtuoso.

When I think of all of the wonderful, earning bands whose songs I've heard on mediocre adverts on television, I don't remember ever screaming "No!" the way I did today when I heard Joe on Taco Bell. I don't know what that says about me.

I hope you invest the earnings wisely, Joe. You're a wonderful guy and I bought your book.
